Orthopedic treatment for children is called pediatric orthopedics. Musculoskeletal disorders affect bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Common pediatric orthopedic conditions:

Fractures:

Casts or splints can immobilize the area, or surgery can realign damaged bones. Scoliosis and kyphosis are spinal abnormalities. Bracing, physical therapy, or surgery are recommended.

Limb deformities:

Physical treatment or orthotics are needed for clubfoot or limb  length disparities. Surgery may be needed.

Sports injuries:

Rest, physical therapy, or surgery are needed for severe injuries.

Congenital abnormalities:

Hip dysplasia, muscular dystrophy. Depending on severity, bracing, physical therapy, or surgery may be needed.

Pediatric orthopedic surgeons

and clinicians treat children. Treatment targets the child’s condition, relieves symptoms, improves function, and prevents long-term problems. The child’s age, development potential, and health determine treatment.
