Common foot and ankle treatments include:

Rest and immobilization:

Crutches, braces, or splints can immobilize the foot or ankle to prevent additional injury or strain.

Ice therapy

reduces pain, inflammation, and edema. For the first several days after injury, apply ice packs for 15-20 minutes every 2-3 hours.

Compression bandages or stockings

minimize edema and support the foot and ankle.

Elevation:

Fluid drainage from elevating the foot and ankle reduces edema. The foot should be above heart level.

NSAIDs

Over-the-counter pain medication NSAIDs can relieve pain and inflammation.

Physical therapy:

Orthotics:

Customized shoe inserts or orthotic devices can support and improve foot and ankle alignment, reducing pain and damage.

Immobilization devices:

Fractures and severe sprains may require a cast or walking :boot to immobilize the foot or ankle and facilitate recovery.

Injections

Corticosteroid injections relieve inflammation and pain, especially for plantar fasciitis and arthritis.

Surgery:

For serious fractures, ligament or tendon tears, or structural anomalies, surgery will be needed.
